The Happy Body appeared in my life when I needed it the most: I had recently divorced, becoming a single mother of two; I was changing careers looking for ways to provide for my family and maintain the flexibility that motherhood requires; I was faced with the need to become not only stronger but also smarter in the way I exercise. In parallel, having dedicated my life to be a Feldenkrais Method® practitioner and teacher, I had been working with people for the last 10 years, and not fully able to get them to an optimal, ideal state of strength and health, according to my vision of what’s possible. The saddest part: I wasn’t able to get there either.
The Happy Body offered me the ability to make the hardest choice of my life, one that I have to make every single day now: the choice between being a Master or a Fatalist. This choice manifests in the most subtle and obvious ways: it gets me up in the morning and takes me to the movement sequences or presses snooze one more time. It puts healthy food on my plate, in the right amount, or allows the second serving, the extra drink. It shows me how meditating has a positive effect on my decision making, joy, ability to cope with the challenges; or barely carries me through the motions, wishing for the end of the day.
I choose to become a Master and to bring this choice to everyone I meet. I commit to refining the endless art of improvement, to learn how much is enough, to build not only muscle but also love and forgiveness into my life and others. As a Happy Body Mentor, I vow to be of service to whoever is interested in choosing to become a Master as well, to improve every day, and to make the world a better place in doing so.
